Milan, blessings return to homes at Christmas, but they will be timed

“Timed” Christmas blessings, for a maximum of ten minutes. And on the doorstep of the houses, wearing the mask. After two years of hiatus due to a pandemic, the blessings of homes and families for Christmas return: a tradition that Bishop Mario Delpini is very fond of, because “it is the sign of a Church that goes out to evangelize”. The parishes, in these days, are distributing calendars and anti-contagion instructions, because Covid still forces some restrictions to protect health. First of all, the priests or those in charge (nuns and consecrated persons) will visit the families without however entering the houses, but stopping on the threshold. In the case of condominiums, the blessing will take place on the landings of the floors, with the families facing the door of the apartment. And the prayer will be recited all together with those present “armed” with masks. Finally, the question of time is fundamental: the priest’s visit must last no more than ten minutes. Last Christmas Delpini, in full Covid wave, with the red zone, had gone to bless the popular blocks of via Padova remaining in the courtyard and with the inhabitants overlooking the balconies. A much appreciated gesture, which could be repeated this year.
