(ANSA) – NAPLES, NOV 14 – ” There will be a strong commitment from the Neapolitan community and the city I represent to ensure that friendship relations are further stimulated and strengthened. We must always nurture friendship between peoples to defeat the seeds of intolerance that occasionally re-emerge in the behavior and actions of some ”. This was stated by the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, who spoke at the opening works of the XXXII National Congress of the Italy-Israel Federation held in Naples and which was also attended by the ambassador of the State of Israel in Italy, Dror Eydar.
Manfredi underlined that having chosen the city of Naples for this appointment “underlines once again the historical, deep and solid link that exists between the Jewish community and our city from a cultural, social and economic point of view”. I think – added the mayor – that in this very particular moment on a global level in which we are increasingly going through a phase of transformation, also accelerated by the effects of the pandemic, we need to strengthen solid relations between the States that have always on their side the theme of democracy, development and growth and therefore I believe that Naples can represent a place where Italian-Israeli cooperation can be continuously strengthened from the point of view of growth, culture, research for development, especially through new technologies and their application ”.
Precisely on the research front, Mayor Manfredi highlighted how ” solid ” the cooperation between the Neapolitan and Campania research system and the Israeli system ” can be further strengthened also by virtue of many new projects that will have to start between the great project of the application of technology to agriculture with the establishment of the National Center in Naples ”.
