Milan, 13 November 2021 – Stop the wild processions which for sixteen consecutive Saturdays paralyzed the center. Piazza Duomo and Corso Vittorio Emanuele off limits for events (with the exception of the religious, civil, cultural and commercial ones planned or sponsored by the Municipality) on the days before holidays and holidays of this and next week and every day from 25 November to 9 January, in view of Christmas. Here is the strategy to pose a brake on the illegal protests of the No green pass, in the light of the directive received in recent days from the Interior Ministry. The plan was drawn up during yesterday’s meeting of the provincial committee for public order and safety, although the unknowns related to the behavior that anti-vaccinists will adopt today remain.

Let’s start from the premise underlying the choices shared by the prefect Renato Saccone with the heads of the police headquarters and provincial commandos of the Arma and Guardia di Finanza and with the councilor for security Marco Granelli. Lombardy remained in the white zone, above all thanks tovery high number of citizens (90%) who have been vaccinated; However the increase in infections is of concern, and consequently we must keep our guard up to avoid a passage in the yellow band that no one hopes for (and avoid the Trieste effect). Among other things, the change of color would have the immediate consequence of stopping all the marches, not just those of the deniers. Translated: those who knowingly violate the rules cannot be allowed to jeopardize both public health and the right to demonstrate of those who instead respect rules that existed before the pandemic and that will exist after. Yes, because the notice of a street initiative is required by the Constitution.

Speaking of advance notice, none arrived in via Fatebenefratelli for any processions departing from Piazza Fontana, the traditional meeting place for No pass. So, if the protesters decide to gather there again in the middle of the afternoon (as seems likely since proclaims “We ignore the prohibitions” launched on Telegram chats), at most they will be able to keep a static presence (with penalties for those who do not wear the mask in situations of “persistent gathering”); in case of surprise departure, they will be blocked by the police. The only official initiative is the one that will be staged from 15 to 17 at the Arco della Pace with the world guru of No vax Robert F. Kennedy jr: it is possible that the event acts as a catalyst. “We have taken decisions that reconcile the right to demonstrate with that of the city to live”, commented Granelli.
