The province of Sondrio is confirmed as one of the most green of Italy thanks to the 18th position obtained in the 28th report “Urban ecosystem“by Legambiente and Ambiente Italia published by Il Sole 24 ore. The ranking is dominated by Trento, which is confirmed as the greenest city in Italy. Reggio Emilia and Mantua complete the podium, while the last three steps of the ranking are occupied by Brindisi , Catania and Palermo.

The ranking is based on 18 parameters grouped into 5 macro-areas: air, water, waste, mobility, environment. In the “report card” of the Valtellina capital, the data relating to public transport – with Sondrio being fourth from last – and those relating to the ability to differentiate waste (70th place) and those relating to water consumption (81st place) weigh negatively. .

On the other hand, the “urban green” index is very good. Sondrio, thanks to its territorial conformation, ranks fourth at the national level. Excellent results in water purification (twelfth in the ranking) and in the low dispersion of the water network (ninth in the ranking).

Finally, beyond the public offer, excellent placements within the mobility chapter. Thanks to the presence of numerous cycle paths, Sondrio ranks fourteenth in the report by Legambiente and Ambiente Italia. Same placement with regard to the motorization rate, indicating the number of cars in circulation per 100 inhabitants. Thirteenth place, however, for the number of victims due to road accidents (13th place).
