Hundreds of firefighters intervened from north to south due to flooding, uncovered roofs and collapses due to thunderstorms and the strong wind that lashed the peninsula in the past few hours. Families evacuated in Pisa and Lazio for houses rendered unusable due to collapses, but high water in Venice.

The bad weather continues to do damage in Italy where in the past few hours cthere have been interventions by the fire brigade from north to south due to flooding, uncovered roofs and collapses due to thunderstorms and the strong wind that lashed the Peninsula. Damages were reported in the internal areas of the province of Pisa where heavy rains and intense gusts of wind caused several collapses, also forcing the evacuation of some families in the San Miniato Basso area. The most affected area is precisely that between Palaia and San Miniato where several buildings have been literally uncovered by the gusts of wind making the houses unusable. In Palaia two buildings near Piazza della Repubblica have been partially declared unusable although fortunately they are not inhabited. Always in Palania a statue collapsed on the roadway. Bad weather caused new phenomena of high water instead in Venice where a tidal peak of 110 centimeters is expected. At 9.55 am the Mose system came into operation with the raising of the barriers d in the lagoon inlets after the Venice tide center signaled the alarm.

Collapses and damage in Lazio, Sicily, Campania and Sardinia

Collapses and evacuations also in the Center-South where in the last 24 hours there have been over 400 interventions by firefighters. Oristano, Rome, Latina, Naples, Caserta and Benevento report from the same Fire Brigade command, where there are several criticalities after yesterday’s abundant rains between Neapolitan and Casertano with collapses of trees and flooding of streets. In Monterotondo, Lazio, the partial collapse of a retaining wall forced theevacuation of 25 families. Even in Rome many areas flooded due to a strong storm that hit the city in the night. Collapses due to strong winds also in the province of Palermo where various damages are recorded. Some surrounding walls have fallen in the Cinisi area, in Fondo Orsa. The firefighters in the last 24 hours have performed dozens of interventions for floods and objects in the street like fallen trees and ledges. The most affected area is precisely that between Carini, Cinisi, Borgetto and Partinico.

Weather warnings today Thursday 4th November

The bad weather will continue today in some areas of the country and during the morning residual showers will wet the upper Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia once again, with snowfalls on the respective alpine sectors above 1000 meters of altitude. It also rains on Tuscany, Umbria and then on Lazio, Abruzzo and Campania. For this the Civil Protection Department has issued a new one warning of adverse weather conditions for today Thursday 4th November evaluating an orange weather alert on part of Campania and a yellow alert for different areas of Abruzzo, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardy, Liguria, Molise, Umbria, Veneto and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
