Rome and Milan will be at the center of international tourist interest for Italy’s landscape and cultural heritages in 2022, confirming a trend that has already manifested itself in 2021 for the destinations of Italy. This was found in a report by the eDreams Odigeo group, one of the largest online travel agencies in Europe and the second largest flight retailer globally. Rome and Milan are, respectively, in third and tenth place of the destinations already blocked by international tourists for 2022.
In addition, Milan, with Paris and Catania, is on the podium in the early booking 2022 ranking of bookings made by the inhabitants of the boot, where short-haul flights once again predominate. However, in these previews for 2022, the recovery of European tourism is also observed, with as many as six foreign destinations.
On the other hand, looking at where tourists flew in 2021, it turns out that in the international ranking of the most popular destinations of this year, Milan and Rome are respectively in fourth and eighth place. Among the destinations most chosen by the Italians this year, there are mainly the tricolor ones. Milan, Catania and Palermo arrive on the podium, followed by Tirana, one of the few foreign cities, together with Paris in eighth place and Barcelona in ninth.
