After the world qualification

Italy: Azzurre on the pitch in November? Ph. Luca Sighinolfi

After brilliantly qualifying for the Rugby World Cup 2022 in New Zealand, dominating the European qualifying round and vigorously consolidating seventh place in the World Rugby Ranking, the blue of Andrea Di Giandomenico seemed to have to dedicate themselves exclusively to some gatherings from here to next Christmas, instead, according to what they learned from OnRugby they could soon return to the field, although it remains to be seen whether with the National Seniores (with cap) or with a selection in the men’s Italia A style.

Certainly, as announced by the post-qualification coach (even if speaking at the time from a Six Nations perspective) there will be turnover, a massive use of young people and perhaps the addition of some new faces.

With the double intent of giving a round of rest to those who pulled the cart, and at the same time trying to increase the depth of the group in view of a 2022 that promises to be as intriguing as it is demanding, between Six Nations and World Cup (Italy included in the Pool B, together with USA – opponent on his debut on October 9, 2022 -, Canada and Japan).

In November: when, where and against whom?

Pending official confirmation, the blue should play next Saturday 13 November, against the Netherlands national team, currently 17th in the world rankings. As for the headquarters, however, Colorno would be in pole position.

It would thus be the sixth blue match, counting all the selections, of the next international autumn, adding up to those of Italy and Italy A men already confirmed.
