The award ceremony of the 11th edition of the Sorriso Diverso Roma Award 2021 was held at the Lazio Region Space of the Rome Film Festival. The award was won by “Il Legionario” by Hleb Papou and “Libertad” by Clara Roquet, respectively as best Italian film and best foreign film. Diego Righini, president of the award, commented: “We award the best films that have been able to tell what is important in the social world”. Artistic director Paola Tassone added: «These two films tell the suburbs and the female theme in a different way». Winner Hleb Papou explained: “These kinds of awards propel society and democracy forward.” Also present was Caterina Celestino, of the homonymous Maison: «We are delighted because we can combine the cultural element and the social element». Godmother of the event was the supermodel Jade Lagardére, at the Rome Film Fest with her comic version thriller Amber Blake.
