(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 17 OCT – “Cepell, Center for books and reading, has opened up to support the export of Italian publishing: for the first time, 600,000 euros have been allocated for a call for proposals directly addressed to publishers Italians for the translation of the works of their catalog in agreement with foreign publishers “. Not only that, “a second call will be supported with the funds of 2021, and will see another 500,000 euros allocated, for a total of 1,100,000 euros”. This was announced by the director of Cepell himself, Angelo Piero Cappello, speaking at the Book Fair at the meeting ‘The Italian book in the international market’, promoted by the Center for books and reading in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Treccani.

Within this perspective, which is radically new for the Centro del Libro, there is also the creation of a summer school, which will bring translators from all over the world to the shores of Lake Garda in July 2022, with particular attention to the French and German languages ​​in view of future appointments.

The opening towards the international market is the great novelty of the Center for the book, it was made possible thanks to the launch of the law 15/2020 to support reading. (HANDLE).
