A few queues here and there for checks, sporadic protests by those who – without certification – could not access the workplace, a predictable surge in tampons and a slight increase in medical certificates of those who in extremis played the card of illness to avoid the suspension and loss of salary (INPS yesterday at noon received 47,393 certificates, 23% more than last Friday). In addition to a significant increase in traffic, especially in large cities and in the capital, seat of the ministries, partly because the first day of the obligation of a green pass to work coincided with the return in the presence of the state, partly for the events of the No Pass.
All in all limited inconvenience. The country has not stopped, as feared by many. “The Public Administration is demonstrating a sense of responsibility and flexible and intelligent organization”, Brunetta begins mid-morning, who himself entered the offices of the public function department with the green pass. Those who did not have a green certificate swab, at their own expense, to be able to work. And the system withstood the shock wave of requests, guaranteeing 506 thousand tests in the (previous) 24 hours, an absolute record (the previous was 378,463 and dated March 5). In staggered hourly ministries, few queues, orderly return. In several administrations, the totems are already operational to check temperature and green pass together, alternatively the VerificationC19 app was used. The first day went off like this, without any critical issues. The new rules have also been tested in the palaces of politics. Valid for everyone: parliamentarians, officials, employees, journalists. To enter the Chamber, the Senate and Palazzo Chigi it is essential to pass the pass to the scanner. Yesterday for the first time the ministers took part in the CDM, green pass in hand, without having to undergo the routine swab. In the Courts the obligation applies to magistrates, administrative staff and law enforcement agencies (it does not concern lawyers, defendants and litigants). Everything went smoothly and no inconvenience was reported to access the Milan courthouse. Ditto in Rome, with random checks for magistrates.
Even the ports have not stopped as expected. There have been slowdowns in Trieste and small protests with few adhesions elsewhere, where port employees are the majority and have guaranteed the operation of the ports. No critical issues, despite being one of the nodes considered most at risk, not even in public transport. The inconveniences were very limited. In Novara, for example, several races have been skipped because at the last moment about twenty drivers without green certification showed up. But mostly, in other cities, No Pass drivers were replaced in time. In Milan, despite 272 ATM employees without green pass, thanks to a reorganization of shifts, the service was guaranteed regularly. The same in Bologna, where 74 drivers were missing.
After the fears expressed on the eve of the entry into force of the obligation, not even the unions report major problems. Everything is regular even in large factories, such as Acciaierie Italia, Fincantieri, Hitachi, Leonardo, Stellantis, Electrolux, Whirlpool, Ast di Terni. There has been some garrison and there are no missing workers who have remained outside because they have no pass, but nothing that has compromised the operation of the plants. «The day was not characterized by tensions and conflicts, apart from a few single work situations. We must avoid the radicalization of the conflict and accompany this phase with the utmost responsibility », the general secretary of the CISL Luigi Sbarra told RaiNews24. Positive results in the private sector: “Fortunately, things are going well and I hope they will go well in the next few days as well,” said the president of Confindustria Carlo Bonomi on the day.
