The unitary conference of the center-right was held at the Temple of Hadrian in Rome in view of the ballot for the election of the mayor of Rome. The leaders of the political forces gathered to give support to Enrico Michetti a few days after the call to the polls, also signing a pact for Rome. Smiles, handshakes, selfies and a few gags to highlight the compactness of the coalition to reporters, but a bit of nervousness has leaked. “It was an unworthy election campaign” said Giorgia Meloni from the stage, with Matteo Salvini relaunching: “The problem is not fascism, but the social breakdown. I don’t trust some ministers, I want to meet Draghi”. Even Michetti, on the sidelines of the event, angrily replied to those who questioned him about the latest statements about Hitler: “To quote a term means nothing. Enough of these things, I am a Christian Democrat”.
