The sixth generation of Fossil smartwatches is now available on the Italian market, equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chip and Wear OS 2.0 and compatible with WearOS 3 starting next year.
Fossil Gen 6 represents a concrete possibility of redemption for a company that has been a guarantee in the field of smartwatches equipped with WearOS for years, but has encountered many difficulties in the last period. According to the statements released last month to the CNET platform, Fossil smartwatches up to Gen 5 will in fact remain excluded from the update to WearOS 3 scheduled for 2022.
To make matters worse, an update of WearOS via the Google Play Store had caused great irritation in users by eliminating most of the watchfaces, that is the personalized dials that distinguished Fossil smartwatches thanks to a proprietary catalog.
Fossil Gen 6 promises to reverse this trend thanks to a processor-level upgrade that will allow smartwatches to be easily upgraded to WearOS 3 when the time comes, LTE connectivity, NFC, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Added to this is a series of features that put Fossil Gen 6 on the market as a direct competitor of Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch: speaker, accelerometer, compass and altimeter, but also sensors for heart rate and blood oxygen level.
As for WearOS features, Fossil offers with this model an increasingly integrated user experience even with third-party applications: it is in fact possible to integrate Fossil Gen 6 with Alexa and play offline music from streaming services such as Spotify and YouTube Music.
The characteristic of Fossil compared to other manufacturers, however, has always been the great attention paid to style and design as well as to functionality: the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches in fact have a 1.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 326 PPI, grafted on two case types, 42 and 44 mm respectively. Seven options for the strap complete the picture: four for the 44 mm case (steel, silicone, leather and elastic fabric) and three for the 42 mm case (silicone, gray steel and rose gold steel).
Fossil Gen 6 is now available starting from the price of 299 euros. The Gen 6 signed by the fashion brand Michael Kors will soon be added to this line-up on the Italian market.
With the arrival of Apple Watch 7, Apple Watch SE is not retiring. Indeed, it remains in the catalog and now has the most interesting price ever, which can be purchased here.
