Vergato, drug grandparents discovered: they grew marijuana

BOLOGNA The carabinieri, in two interventions in the Bolognese area, seized about ninety marijuana plants and arrested three people: a retired couple and a 35-year-old young man. The soldiers of the Vergato company, after investigations, carried out a search in a cottage in Castel d’Aiano, on the Apennines, where a 65-year-old resided.
Outside, in a field, they discovered a cultivation of marijuana plants, 51 in all. Finding an expired rental contract for an apartment in Marzabotto in the house, the patrols carried out a second search in that house where the 60-year-old, uncensored, once cohabiting with the 65-year-old resided.

Here the carabinieri found 750 grams of dried marijuana, precision sling bars and packaging material. The two were arrested for cultivation, production and detention for the purpose of drug dealing.

A 35-year-old was also arrested who, in his apartment in Zola Predosa, had set up a greenhouse, with a ventilation and lighting system, where he grew 40 marijuana plants. The military discovered everything after having also received a report for an abnormal consumption of electricity. During the search, after finding 2,500 euros in cash, hidden in the oven in the kitchen they found a list of addresses and mailing envelopes. Investigations are underway to clarify whether the 35-year-old sent the narcotic substance by correspondence to the various contacts collected also via social media and on a web platform.
