The second hearing on the story of Eitan, the little survivor of the Mottarone tragedy, resumed a few minutes ago at the Tel Aviv Family Court. In the courtroom there are both Aya Biran Nirko, Eitan’s paternal aunt and her foster, and Shmuel Peleg, maternal grandfather who brought the child to Israel and who is under investigation in Italy for kidnapping. The judge has two more hearings scheduled: tomorrow evening and Sunday.
The spokesman for the Biran family, in a note released before the hearing began, said that today’s “does not concern the question of the child’s good, nor his custody, nor anything else”. The hearing, he added, “will focus only on the question of the return of the kidnapped child on the basis of the Hague Convention”.
