The photographer from Vercelli Marco Barnabino, who has recently published for Mimesis the book of philosophy Lo Specchio di Lilith of which he is the author, together with Matteo Agarla of texts and photographs, was invited to participate in the prestigious Milan Photofestival. The Ma-Ec gallery has selected 25 international photographers including Barnabino who will exhibit four large-sized works fine art printed on pearl cotton paper with natural pigments. The Monologue exhibition. Loneliness in the bustling city, a theme dear to the Vercelli photographer, will take place from 2 to 16 October 2021. Milan Photofestival is an event promoted by AIF, sponsored by the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Milan. Born in the early 2000s as a biennial, since 2007 Photofestival has acquired an annual frequency, establishing itself as the most important and richest Milanese event dedicated to auteur photography and one of the most important cultural events on the Italian scene. This year’s theme is Nature and the city. Signs of a new time. Monologue. Loneliness in the bustling city is the exhibition that MA-EC Gallery proposes. The shots on display weave a story in which the relationship between nature, urban spaces and a sense of loneliness is rethought in the light of the pandemic that has changed our perception of the city. Most people in contemporary society live in cities. While enjoying the comfort and vitality of urban agglomerations, one also feels the pressure and loneliness caused by the hectic life. How to coordinate the relationship between individuals and the city is a challenge closely linked to our quality of life.
