Milan is the safest city in Italy and the twenty-seventh safest in the world. This was established by a study by the Economist Intelligence Unit called “Safe cities” which took into account 76 different indicators. These include digital, environmental, personal and infrastructure security.

Under study, 60 cities from around the globe were considered. The final ranking is based on an average grade of 76 different indicators. Milan is also the 27th safest city in the world, ahead of Rome by two positions on a global scale.

To draw up the special ranking, the researchers of the Economist Intelligence Unit identified 76 parameters including digital security, health security, infrastructure security and personal and environmental security. It was this last indicator that allowed Copenhagen to be elected as the safest city in the world. Globally, Toronto, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo follow. Milan, in 27th position, is the first Italian city for safety.

Diversified ranking, Sydney the world’s safest digitally
Giovanni D’Agata, president of the Rights Desk, commented on the ranking, explaining that the various categories show rather diversified results. Especially when it comes to digital security, Sydney is the city to beat. As for health security, Tokyo is the most highly rated city while Hong Kong is the safest in terms of infrastructure security. Copenhagen is the safest city on a personal level, Wellington on an environmental level. As for these categories, Milan is respectively 26th, 42nd, 30th, 24th and fifth.
