Cuneo, 18 September 2021 – Tied up, beaten and left to die at home with his roommate for an unpaid account, was the tragic fate of a 42-year-old Italian in the island of Gran canaria (Spain). The body of Andrea Costa, originally from Cuneo, a former metalworker, was then loaded by his tormentor on his car e the car set on fire. For the death of the 42-year-old, writes the Iberian press, three people were arrested and five others under investigation. The charges, for various reasons, are of murder, concealment of a corpse and wrongful death.
Coast on the Spanish island in the past had run a cannabis club, ‘La Guaracha’, we read in the local press. The death was also confirmed in the Cuneo area where Costa had lived until a year ago. A few months ago his wife, who had followed him to Spain, and where they had married in Vecindario, had returned to Italy with her minor child. Costa had stayed behind to look for another job.
Killed for an unpaid account
The quarrel in the middle of the night. Costa was handcuffed, tied up and left in the house until he died. But what happened? According to the reconstruction of the Spanish investigators Costa he had gone to dinner last Saturday with the 8 suspects, all Spaniards. The group would use drugs, then move to a restaurant. But at the end of dinner the Spaniards would have walk away without paying the bill, leaving Costa alone in the club.
The Italian would then join the group late at night and then the violent quarrel would break out between him and David José, his roommate. It was the latter who beat him, handcuffed him, and later hid the body in the house for over 24 hours, until Costa’s death.
The victim’s housemate would then decide to get rid of the corpse by putting it in his car and setting it on fire. The charred body of the Italian was found on Monday, but the identification took place in the following days.
