Solidarity competition for Piceno women, help to be welcomed in Centro Avezzano

The Italian Red Cross of Ascoli Piceno asked for help from the women of Piceno to help the thousands of people fleeing Afghanistan and welcomed at the Red Cross Center camp in Avezzano (province of L’Aquila). Cri Ascolana immediately became an active part of a collection of clothing and personal hygiene material to be allocated to Afghan refugees, to respond to special needs and ensure dignified and immediate care. Many of them are women and children, who managed to arrive in Italy with military flights, facing enormous dangers and without being able to take anything with them. But there are millions of people left in their country of origin.
“In a very short period of time – underlines Cristiana Biancucci, president of the Ascoli CRI – we were able to collect the necessary material and delivered to the Red Cross Hub in Avezzano, under the coordination of the Civil Protection and with the support of the Italian Army. A dutiful thanks goes to the women of the Piceno area and beyond, who have accepted my appeal and have set in motion an excellent organizational and supportive machine “. Many companies have donated: Teddy Group, Gran Sasso, UPIM / OVS, Gabrielli Group, Manifatture FDM, Wudawu, Globo and the individuals who participated in the great solidarity competition.
“But our work certainly does not end here: after the first reception, the path of inclusion must begin. We will not abandon the Afghan people who have arrived in Italy but we will remain by their side, demonstrating once more and in full Covid-19 emergency, what it means being ‘an Italy that helps’ “.
