MILAN: The Mystery of the MONSTER LITTLE MERMAID Makes Scientists Discuss. The details
The hideous mermaid monster, a mysterious creature found 40 years ago at the Natural History MuseumAt the Museum of Natural History of Milan there is an authentic mystery: an unidentified vertebrate, called “Mermaid Monster“. The history is not recent, as it dates back to early 80s, when the then director Giorgio Teruzzi made this chilling discovery in a cavity. Coincidentally, while an operator was cleaning, he found it well hidden skeleton of a monstrous animal, with human hair, bird nails and fish fins.
At the time, the story caused a sensation and no employee could figure out what it was: it came put in an archive, waiting for news. Today, 40 years later, the naturalist Giorgio Bardelli, interviewed by the newspaper Corriere della Sera, explained that strange mystery thus: “Nobody knew where it came from, there were no documents or cards attached. The suspicion is that it could have belonged to
Villa brothers, Milanese collectors who donated pieces to the Museum. Probably, it dates back before 1943, when the flames destroyed many of the artifacts and someone, to save him, put him in a crevice of a room “.
Bardelli he also added some curious details: “From the x-rays we know that inside there are a ‘wooden frame and iron inserts, while the widest part of the body is in papier mache“.
It would therefore seem to be a kind of composition of different animals, but no scientist has actually managed to give a logical explanation and, after almost half a century, he remains one of the unsolved mysteries of Milanese museums.
