JESI (Ancona) – Roberto Mancini, coach of the Italian national team, does not reject the idea of playing the world championship every two years, instead of every four: “The World Cup every two years is something to evaluate. The World Cup is fascinating because it comes once every four years. If you play every two, it would mean a World, a European, a World, a European. I don’t know, we need to talk about it“. The Azzurri coach spoke at a press conference before the event in his honor organized by the city of Jesi, where the coach was born.
Mancini: “The country pushed us to the European Championships”
Returning to the triumph of the national team in July, Mancini says: “At the European Championship, after a year and a half lived like this (with the Covid pandemic, ed), we started with the goal of doing something special for our people. We felt a whole country pushing us and this gave us great strength, the boys gave more than they had”. “After winning – Mancini added – we must almost forget and think about the next challenge. Now the World Cup is waiting for us“. In Jesi a mural created by the artist from Jesi, Federico Zenobi, was dedicated to the coach, a few steps from the oratory that the national team coach attended as a child. “I like the mural that portrays me – commented – it was made where I was born and where I started playing football. There it suits us“.
