Under the Angel of Castello: the festival of dance, music, show in progress in Rome hosts “Guida Immaginaria”

Saturday 18 September, at 9 pm, inside the National Museum of Castel Sant’Angelo and as part of the review “Under the Angel of Castello” which takes place on weekends from 28 August to 29 September with dance performances, music, theater, performances, guided tours and dialogues with contemporary art, “Guida Immaginaria” will be staged, an audio guide from the Acropolis Museum in an unexpected Greece, of which the Angelo Mai Collective took care of the sound environment.

The audience will enter the performance environment, a space that will then be in the dark, with a small catalog, a small torch and… a headset that will allow them to leave for a fabulous journey. The voices of the museum, in addition to that of Gabriele Portuguese’s guide, are by Marco Cavalcoli, Sylvia De Fanti, Giorgina Pi, Laura Pizzirani

The exhibition, which takes place under the aegis of the Directorate of State Museums of the City of Rome and the National Museum of Castel Sant’Angelo, directed by Mariastella Margozzi, is curated by Anna Selvi and aims to enhance, in addition to the headquarters of the Direction, the magnificent Castel Sant’Angelo, the aim is also to intrigue visitors and meet new audiences to animate the monument with art and beauty expressed in various forms and to seize the last glimpse of summer to propose small moments of sociality and well-being through the use of different arts and artistic languages, always guaranteeing compliance with anti Covid regulations.

Have you ever been to the Acropolis Museum in Athens? We do not. Or maybe yes. It may be that we happened to visit it when we were too small, or too big, or too distracted. However, we propose that you listen to us as we illustrate the structure and catalog of this extraordinary museum. You will not be able to see, so you will have to believe everything we describe: a completely arbitrary selection of works, a sound journey in which they themselves will speak, telling a classical Greece different from what we expect and an overturned Acropolis with chthonic creatures, bizarre visitors, deities reduced to broken or stolen statues will talk to us together with our guide. To honor the monsters, to make the west the gateway to the east.
