Milano – Sunday 20 September 2020 the Library of the Trees of Milan organizes Welcome autumn!, a day that celebrates the arrival of autumn with a party focused on the metaphor of bird migration It is on language of the theater. In fact, the autumn season represents one of the two annual peaks of migration, a crucial and necessary event, but also symbolic, with respect to great themes such as collective memory and freedom.
Milano – The day opens with a big one installation artistic and participatory: Migrations. From 10.00 am, under the guidance of the students of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and in collaboration with Giotto, adults and children can draw and coloring huge bird silhouettes on the meadows, creating a scenography that comes to life during the course of the day with the warm and enveloping colors of the small fauna and the shape of the trees in the park.
Milano – The Meli Area is instead the protagonist from 10.30 am Flock, theater workshop for adults which explores the collective intelligence of the group, the same used in nature by flocks: a moment to get involved and explore the concept of collaboration to achieve harmony and collective will, exactly like the one that birds use in nature.
After a scenographic picnic with giant white wading swans, the children’s workshop The rhythm of the woodpecker marks the afternoon – with two appointments, at 3.00 pm and 4.15 pm – thanks to the hammering of this curious bird and the construction of small birds in recycled material. The meeting is accompanied by the story of the curiosities related to this cute animal, which each child then brings home, in memory of the many birds that live in the park.
Birds are also the theme of the talk Migratory birds and climate change, created in collaboration with the University of Milan. The meeting, scheduled at 4.30 pm, provides for a scientific study on the theme of the migratory routes of birds at the time of Covid-19 and Climate Change, with the participation of Guido Pinoli e Diego rubolini, and followed by a urban birding walk which starts from the Library of the Trees and reaches the Central Station. The activity is part of the initiatives promoted by Biodiversity Festival 2021, organized with the Parco Nord of Milan and other important Milanese realities.
At 18.00, the amphitheater of the Birches of the Biblioteca degli Alberi acts as a natural stage for The Ideal City, contemporary reinterpretation of de Birds by Aristophanes, curated by Centro Teatro Attivo. The performance, starting from a great classic of comedy, helps the audience to reflect on the themes of the environment and sustainable development combined with the rethinking of spaces, times and ways of metropolitan life due to the pandemic.
The birds continue to be the protagonists even inside the Blooming Room with the exhibition The Pillars from Stephen Gill, an internationally renowned photographer who, through an installation of over 40 photographs, highlights man’s inability to control the natural world. Edited by ArtsFor, in collaboration with Images Vevey e Images Gibellina, the project is part of Fom – Open Milan Photography, a new itinerant and open-air cultural center that uses author photography as a tool and language to read, tell and understand reality.
