It is called “Menu Risorgimento, the Unification of Italy in the kitchen”, and it is the first super book of Linkiesta!
It could not be a book like any other and in fact it is certainly not a conventional cookbook. Because it tells us about the Risorgimento, starting from a menu.
To recall the lunch set up in 1911, under the high patronage of the King, on the occasion of the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the Unification of Italy, we have replicated the recipes in the Turin restaurant Del Cambio – with the help of chef Matteo Baronetto served at the time to the army officers engaged in national target shooting competitions.
Reconstructing the history of all the onomastic recipes that gave life to this menu allowed us to discover that those delicious courses hid political positions, love stories and Masonic lodges, food for thought and heavy invectives, which transformed a harmless list of food in a large manifesto of the Risorgimento.
In bookstores from 14 September but you can buy it right now here.
And while you are studying the Risorgimento at the table, we continue to write on the site and talk to you on social networks: because Gastronomika is always on the move.
