Sunday 12 September, at 3 pm, the Saluzzo (within the friendly walls of the “Damiano”) will take the field in preliminary round of the Italian Serie D Cup e will face the newly promoted Asti.
Approaching the Piedmontese derby, we contacted by phone the coach of Saluzzo Mauro Briano.
“We arrive ready for the first official match of the season, mentally and I believe physically. We have been at work since August 9th, we have thought about our team logistics and I have seen great commitment in recent weeks. We start strong, an important challenge awaits us with Asti, with a level opponent. The field will give us important indications.
We will face the challenge on Sunday as if it were a championship day. It was our goal to make the last friendlies with the right mentality. The goal is the passage of the round, the Italian Cup is an important competition. There are not many arguments to do, it is an official race to win.
Out of modesty and gratitude towards the Serie D championship, we do not make tables of opponents and matches to be played. We consider the opponents all the same, strong and prepared. We look at our home, we are working on the mentality and attitude. The calendar put us on the Bra, in Saluzzo, on the first day. Destiny or the stars, at times, give strange intertwining. But it is beautiful like this, we immediately start strong“.
