“The election campaign is giving me great emotions.” This is the stamp of Enrico Michetti, candidate for mayor of the center-right, imprinted on his path towards the election, which yesterday saw an important step with the presentation, in the afternoon, of the candidates for municipal presidents. In a day that began with some meetings held together with Matteo Salvini, at Labaro, and Ostia, where the election campaign of the candidate for president Monica Picca, in Lega quota, was inaugurated. “The Rays era will be archived as a bizarre anthropological experiment based on cable cars and cycle paths, even if we were in Cortina”, Salvini joked. In the afternoon, Michetti started the electoral campaign of the candidates to lead the municipalities, officially presented to the press. “We have done a great job on profiles,” said the lawyer, and the people identified “have already shown they can do it. They put their face, the sweat, all the effort into it. We as an administration will have a serious and collaborative approach ». Addressing the candidates, he hoped that “the Capitol would be able to decentralize and transfer the resources and skills necessary to ensure proximity, because the citizen turns to you”.
During the meeting, Michetti insisted on what are now the qualifying points of his political proposal, including the effectiveness of administrative acts (“You need to know how to write the provision after having interpreted the citizen’s need with serenity of mind, with the heart and the brain ”, he said), the enhancement of the human capital of the Capitol, and the completion of the waste cycle. And the no to the privatization of Ama and Atac: «they will remain public. They will certainly need to be restructured and the staff motivated, the goal is to create a competitive dimension of public transport, both nationally and internationally ». The initiative was also attended by the citizen secretaries of the parties that support the coalition. Maurizio Gasparri, commissioner of Forza Italia, observed: «The center-right in this phase is strong and given as a favorite and if there were political elections everyone would think that success would be ours; in administrative there are other factors but we have the advantage of cohesion while our opponents are fragmented ».
Alfredo Becchetti of the Lega underlined: «people need to feel close to politics – he continued – these presidential candidates are the right people because they are close to the people and will allow us to win elections in the municipalities. The essential fact is the cohesion of the center-right, never so united ». The coordinator of the Brothers of Italy, Massimo Milani, for his part emphasized mobilization: “We will unleash an army of people who want to give hope to this city”, while Roberto Riccardi of the UDC reasoned: “It is a great moment for Rome and for the unitary center-right, improvisation is abandoned to return to competence ».
