It will be a special blessing from the Vatican secretary of state cardinal, Pietro Parolin, to conclude the event that on Saturday 11 September will see the signing in Rome of the memorandum of understanding between the Romea Strata, Francigena and Romea Germanica streets (Libreria Leoniana, via dei Corridori 16 – 10 am). Three ways that, together, involve about fifteen countries in Europe. The agreement, explained the presidents of the three streets Massimo Tedeschi (Francigena), Flavio Foietta (Romea Germanica) and don Raimondo Sinibaldi (Romea Strata), “intends to promote collaboration and create a synergy at the service of pilgrims and travelers who, on foot either by bicycle or by other means, from all over Europe they will go to Rome in 2025, on the occasion of the Jubilee to be announced by Pope Francis. It will be a great opportunity to enhance the city as a pilgrimage destination par excellence and center of Christianity, since there are the tombs of Saints Peter and Paul, pillars of faith and early Christianity ”.
After the greeting of card. Parolin, Msgr. Maurizio Bravi, representative of the Holy See at the World Tourism Organization and at the European Institute of Cultural Routes, will give a short talk entitled “European cultural itineraries, heritage with Christian traits”. Following the greetings of the three presidents, a description of the three ways, the signing of the protocol and the blessing of the cardinal secretary of state of which the organizers recall a reflection: “The pilgrim sets out and reaches the sacred place in situations of hope or suffering, joy, confusion, thanksgiving, worry, uncertainty or fragility. Many of these experiences translate into the most pressing questions of existence. And in Christ they find an answer ”.
