A violent hailstorm struck on the morning of Sunday 1 August on a strip of the Pordenone area between the municipalities of Fiume Veneto, Azzano Decimo and Chions. The bad weather lasted for about fifteen minutes, with grains that reached 80 millimeters in diameter, the size of a tennis ball.

The requests for help from the local fire brigade command began before 7.30 and came from Fiume Veneto, where a factory in via Molino was hit in particular on the roof, as well as by Chions and Azzano decimo, with damage recorded in large barns.

Over the course of the hours, a dozen other requests for help came from Bannia and Praturlone, again for damage to the roofing of buildings, both homes and businesses and also to parked cars.
