A devastating fire broke out in the late morning of today in the Oristano area in the countryside between Bonarcado and Santu Lussurgiu and due to the high temperatures – with peaks of over 40 degrees – which are being recorded today and due to the wind, the flames are spreading rapidly, devouring everything. The men of the forestry corps, firefighters and volunteers are working on the spot. To stem the fire, which has also come dangerously close to the provincial road where the police are diverting traffic as a precaution, three helicopters from the regional fleet and two Canadair are intervening.
Two other helicopters are throwing water bombs on the Usellus countryside, also in the Oristano area, and two more Canadair are also on their way. At the moment there are no damages to farms or injured, but the alert remains high throughout the day from the red dot, as per the regional civil protection bulletin.
