The charge is one of heavy ones: walking down the hospital aisles with a gun. Michele Usuelli, regional councilor of + Europe in an interview on Republic accused the center-right candidate Luca Bernardo, head of pediatrics at the Fatebenefratelli hospital, of taking the gun to the hospital, even in the ward.
“It’s not gossip: it’s a well-known thing in the world of Milanese pediatrics,” assured Usuelli, who is also a neonatologist and at the beginning of his career as a doctor worked with Giuseppe Sala’s challenger. The reply from the person concerned took a few hours to wait but in the end it arrived: «I have never entered the ward with a gun and I have never carried a gun on me, there are not even toy guns in my department. Even though there are clowns who make children laugh in therapy, no one has ever dressed up as a sheriff, ”Bernardo explained. However, he did not deny that he had “the license of defense weapons for about ten years, like most doctors”.
After Usuelli’s denunciation, there were many comments from the center left. Lia Quartapelle, Milanese deputy of the Democratic Party, asked the “right to explain why a doctor who enters the hospital armed would make Milan safer”, and clarity was also requested by other members of the Democratic Party, such as the regional councilor Pietro Bussolati, the councilor Angelo Turco, while from Milano Unita also Paolo Limonta and Elena Lattuada commented on the episode considering it “very serious”.
Comments that Bernard harshly rejected announced a libel suit: “I find that some leftists should stop using Iron Curtain methods, using defamation as a tool. For this I have already given a mandate to my lawyer against defamation ». The pa environment, mobility. All important issues. We must discuss Milan and the improvement of the life of all our fellow citizens ».
For this reason, the doctor concluded, “I will not sleep at night as long as I see only one person sleeping on the street, I will not sleep at night until I know that our children cannot play in the courtyards of the houses where they live or in the parks, as long as the elderly remain. closed at home for fear that their own homes will be illegally occupied ». And finally, «I allow myself one last thing: the fact that after working hours I can go and visit those in need of treatment is in full line with the mandate and mission of a doctor. So obviously for some people the Hippocratic oath is not valid. For me, yes, always ».
