Gaetano Fresa

Gaetano Fresa is from Puglia by birth, but Valdarnese by adoption and has always been a passionate runner. Over the years he has dedicated himself to trail running, running in the green, in contact with nature. From this, but above all from his being sensitive to solidarity issues, the idea of a “pilgrimage” in the Via Francigena was born with green, but above all beneficial purposes, supporting the cause of Dynamo Camp, the first center in Italy of Recreational Therapy, which organizes and manages the holidays of children and young people with serious illnesses free of charge, offering them qualified assistance.

Gaetano left on May 28th from Groppodalosio, a small hamlet between the Cisa Pass and Pontremoli and arrived on July 3rd in St. Peter’s Square in Rome.

“I finished my solidarity pilgrimage covering a total of 650 km – says Fresa – of which 260 in running and 390 in walking. This has already allowed me to collect and donate 600 euros to the Dynamo Camp Onlus and, I would like to emphasize, that it is still possible to make donations by consulting the page: https://my.dynamocamp.org/campagne/dream-and-run . Furthermore – continues Gaetano – along the way, I was able to plant on the Via Francigena, thanks to the support of local administrations, pro loco and friends, a total of 81 trees, mixed between lime, walnut, oak, maple, hackberry, olive and pomegranate trees . Finally, to reiterate the sensitivity that we should all have towards the environment, I collected abandoned waste and plastic in some sections of the journey, for a total of 51.5 kg. The trees planted were donated by some nurseries ”.
