Nutrition: Dadone (Italy), involving young people

NEW YORK, 14 JULY – “We are at a time when it is particularly important for young people to have their say: in the transformation and innovation of agri-food systems we must consider their rights and expectations”: he said the Minister for Youth Policies Fabiana Dadone speaking today at the political forum that proposes actions and ideas for the transformation of agri-food systems, and to rebuild societies and economies after the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In cooperation with the National Youth Agency (ANG) and the National Youth Council (CNG) – said the Minister – I am strongly supporting the initiative of the WFF (Wood Food Forum, FAO’s youth initiative) and of the UNFSS (United Nations Food Systems Summit) to launch a global platform to involve young people in a reflection on sustainable agri-food systems “.

In support of this initiative, on 1 July Dadone launched a consultation, with ANG (the government body, supervised by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and by the European Commission, to promote active citizenship among young people) and the CNG (the advisory body to which the representation of young people is entrusted in the dialogue with the institutions for any discussion on policies affecting the world of youth) which so far has received about 3 thousand responses from young citizens aged 14 to 35: “It is necessary to build a dialogue based on trust, showing them that what they have to say matters and recognizing the value of their contribution”, observed Fabiana Dadone.
