Mipaaf: yesterday and today a new meeting of agricultural experts of the G20

Rome, 14 July (askanews) – As part of the meetings of the Italian Presidency of the G20, on 13 and 14 July 2021, the second meeting of Agricultural Experts (Agriculture Deputies Meeting) was held via video conference, organized by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies .
The meeting, reads a note from the Mipaaf, was opened by the president of the Agricultural Experts, Graziella Romito, who reported on the work of the scientific experts of the agricultural sector of the G20 (MACS) and then chaired the negotiations on the Communiqué of the Ministers of Agriculture of the G20.
At the center of the meeting, the themes of resilience and risk management in agriculture, analyzed starting from the data elaborated by the FAO and the OECD on the basis of the challenges faced by the G20 countries in the period of the pandemic. Countries stressed the need for adequate tools to deal with the various types of risks in agriculture and the strengthening of early warning systems.
Agriculture ministers will meet in Florence on 16 September for the Open Forum on sustainable agriculture and from 17 to 18 September at the ministerial meeting which will be dedicated to the sustainability and resilience of agricultural and food systems.
