(ANSA) – CROTONE, JUL 14 – The 41-year-old Iranian citizen arrested last May 26 in Stuttgart by the German police in execution of a European arrest warrant issued on the basis of a precautionary custody order in prison by the investigating judge of the Court of Crotone, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The restrictive measure was issued as part of the Ikaros operation which last February led to the arrest by the police of 24 people accused, for various reasons, of criminal association aimed at aiding illegal immigration, ideological falsehood, trafficking of illicit influences and corruption.
ME, in particular, is accused of having been part of two criminal associations dedicated to the commission of an indeterminate series of crimes aimed at favoring the illicit stay in the territory of the Italian and European state of asylum seekers. The two associations would have had ramifications on the national territory and abroad and would have been specialized in the preparation of false documentation certifying fictitious residences and false hiring of asylum seekers, mostly of Iraqi Kurdish nationality, interested in obtaining the recognition of a form of international protection, not as they need to be safeguarded from their state of origin but only to obtain a residence permit that would guarantee them freedom of movement on Italian and European territory. In exchange for these services, asylum seekers were willing to pay substantial sums of money. (HANDLE).
