Yesterday, Thursday 8 July, was a day dedicated to bad weather extreme on Lombardy, battered by devastating hailstorms, storms and strong winds. Among the most violent phenomena, there is certainly the apocalyptic hailstorm that has struck Rozzano, in the Milanese area. The pictures we had posted yesterday showed the windshields of dozens of shattered cars, completely destroyed, as well as many trees felled.

Damage of this magnitude immediately led to think of huge hail. The photo above, which comes from Rozzano, shows hail “bombs” up to 8-10cm in diameter, truly incredible. Therefore, it is not surprising the great damage caused by grains – if they can still be called that – so great.

Responsible for this bad weather was a powerful supercell that hit the Milanese. Even in the Bergamo area, hail has reached considerable dimensions, up to 4-5cm.
