Mantua – One of the two boys who were allegedly victim of a violent attack in the square of a shopping center on the night between Thursday and Friday died, what seems to all intents and purposes an ambush organized perhaps to punish a mistake matured in the world of drug dealing. Per Atilio Drekai, 23, of Albanian nationality, probably resident in San Giorgio Bigarello, a town in the province, procedures have begun to declare brain death and detach it from the machinery that keeps it alive. The boy had just been admitted to the resuscitation ward of the Carlo Poma city hospital. The other injured, 35 years old, remains in a coma.
I carabinieri who are investigating are limited to this, hiding behind the maximum confidentiality regarding dynamics, modalities and reasons of the ambush which appears, however, a settling of scores. The military would be checking the footage of the cameras of the shopping center, even if the ambush took place in a secluded area of the square, difficult for the electronic eye to monitor. The two, according to a first version of what happened, would have been invited to an appointment by one phone call received while they were in a bar right in San Giorgio Bigarello. Once they reached the square of the shopping center, the two would have found themselves in front of four to five people who attacked them with baseball bats (one was found not far from the place of the attack) and reduced to death. The magistrate in charge of the case, Fabrizio Celenza, has opened a file against unknown persons. Initially the crime hypothesis was attempted murder, now – after Drekia’s death – the charge is voluntary murder.
Some witnesses would have reported that the attackers were of Albanian nationality, but about this there are no matches by the carabinieri. The fact is that when the military arrived on the spot, they found the two on the ground, unconscious, and no one else around.
