It becomes a book travel by bike in Italy post lockdown – Books – Other Proposals

CAGLIARI – He crossed the beautiful country by bike in 32 days, from Palermo to the top of Italy, Trentino Alto Adige, to tell the story of the post quarantine. A solo journey, which began with the crossing from the port of Cagliari on 5 June 2020, and then started the ride from Sicily and reached the set destination on 7 July. And now this experience, the 30-year-old from Cagliari, Francesco Accardo, tells it in a book that arrives in bookstores on April 6: “Sunsets by bike” (Gaspari editions).

The transport engineer, director of the “Giuseppe Siotto” research foundation, retraces his adventure in this travel diary, following the first closure of Italy due to a pandemic. Page after page, Accardo accompanies the reader to discover magical places. An interior journey to rediscover that sense of freedom. “A concept so volatile that it cannot be fixed on a sheet of paper – we read in the book – It needs to be breathed in the dust, the blinding sun, the scorching heat, the cold rain and the icy wind of a road. And cycling is this, it is freedom, it is happiness., it is relating directly and without any intermediary with the environment that surrounds us, in which you are immersed and where you want nothing more than to stay there as long as possible. it is suffering. And sometimes this suffering becomes pain. And it’s beautiful. ”
