Filming of The Little Mermaid is scheduled in Sardinia
According to the local newspaper The New Sardiniait live action Disney from The little Mermaid, with protagonist Halle Bailey, will be partly shot in Sardinia. Directed by Rob Marshall, the troupe should arrive in Italy in the next few weeks, at Santa Teresa di Gallura, and will remain there for about three months. In total, a whopping three hundred people will be involved and a source reportedly told Variety that some of the insiders have already arrived on the island to select marine and other locations suitable for shooting. In short, preparations are imminent!
We remember that The little Mermaid had already started production in 2020, but processing was delayed by the health emergency. In the cast, along with the Bailey there will also be Melissa McCarthy in the role of Ursula, the witch of the sea, Jonah Hauer-King in the role of Eric e Javier Bardem in that of Re Tritone.
The feature film will reproduce the songs of the 1989 animated classic, and will also add some original songs with music composed by Alan Menken, and texts by Lin-Manuel Miranda, known for working on the musical Hamilton. Among the producers, the same Miranda, director Rob Marshall, Marc Platt e John DeLuca.
For the moment, the film de The little Mermaid is scheduled for 2022.
