A 42-year-old woman was killed on the set of Alec Baldwin’s new western “Rust” shot at Bonanza Creek Ranch, near Santa Fe, New Mexico. The tragedy would have occurred due to the malfunction of a firearm, a pistol or a shotgun, during the filming of the sequence of a shooting. On the other hand, a man, also from the crew, was injured. The helicopter transport to the hospital, where the woman died, was useless. The other injured person is also in hospital.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office investigates the incident, which will have to ascertain the dynamics of the incident and what type of weapon and bullets were used. The victim’s personal details were not disclosed.
The film, co-produced by Baldwin himself, is directed by Joel Souza. The cast also includes Jensen Ackles, Brady Noon and Travis Fimmel. Filming was stopped. The production assured that the weapon was loaded with blanks but inexplicably fired, killing.
