Florence, June 14, 2021 – La degree in music? Now you can take it to the first pop music academy in Florence. The dream of becoming a professional musician is cultivated in the historic Palazzo Taddei, in the very central via Ginori, where the progetto Lmws Florence Academy.
By following the courses of the new Academy it will be possible to obtain the Bachelor of Arts Commercial Music, in collaboration with Uws, University of the West of Scotland, a qualification corresponding to Level 6 of the EQF, the European qualification framework, equivalent to Italian bachelor’s degree. The course of study will lead students to a series of professional breakthroughs: solo or in band musician, songwriter, producer, arranger, music manager, session musician, recording studio technician, music teacher, recording representative manager. The Academy program will be presented during the Open & Happening Day on Wednesday 16 June at the school headquarters in via Ginori 15, at 4 pm. Lmws has been active in Florence since the early 1970s, engaged in the training of pianists and artists. Since 2009 Maurizio Tomberli – didactic director of the new Lmws Academy, trainer and author of books on teaching methods dedicated to the modern piano and solo performer, is pianist and singer of the “Oversea Orchestra” which has to his credit collaborations with artists such as Raf, Marco Masini , Laura Pausini, Pooh – has developed new training courses in guitar, bass, drums, singing and composition.
Lmws Academy has an artistic director, Eric Buffat, composer producer, arranger, pianist and author of successful songs, including “An emergency of love” by Laura Pausini, “On vacation from a life” by Irene Grandi, “stai con me” by Raf. Buffat has collaborated with many big names in Italian music and beyond. He accompanied Laura Pausini on world tours for 10 years, worked with Raf, Vallesi, Irene Grandi, and again with Marco Masini and Jovanotti, Ramazzotti and Ivana Spagna, Michele Zarrillo, Pino Daniele, Phil Collins.
He was vocal coach of Amici di Maria De Filippi and collaborator of Fiorello in Edicola Fiore and Viva Rai Play. The courses offered by the LMWS Academy are mainly two, one lasting two years to achieve the Higher National Diploma and the other lasting three years to get to the Bachelor of Arts. The Higher National Certificate / Diploma Course is reserved for those who have reached the age of 18 and have a high school diploma.
Lessons will start in September and will end in May (32 weeks of teaching planned). The knowledge of guitar, drums, bass, piano, singing and music production is deepened and certified. The course for the Bachelor of Arts (for which, among other requirements, the command of the English language is required – level b2) instead includes over 200 hours of lessons per year, including lectures, individual study, workshops, role playing, professional internship and project work, in addition to workshops and other cultural activities.
