For Gianni Rodari “if fairy tales did not exist they would have to be invented”. Especially at Christmas, and especially for the children who will spend these holidays in the hospital as patients of the Oncology and Pediatric Surgery wards. For this reason, Audens has donated and will continue to donate in the coming days, a book that can make them dream: “ARTÙperTU with Enrica at the Museum”. A fantastic story, a contemporary fable, which talks about animals and makes it clear how important it is to take care of them.

Private donors and companies have purchased 1,500 copies of the book which are arriving in numerous hospitals throughout Italy, also thanks to the support of some voluntary associations. The proceeds from the sales of the donated books will be donated by Audens to ENPA (National Animal Protection Agency) in favor of the long-distance adoption of elderly dogs and cats in the kennels, who often struggle to find a family to welcome them.

“It is a great solidarity campaign, which we managed to organize in just a few days thanks to the generosity and sensitivity of the many people who decided to participate”, explains the director of Audens Monica Cerin. “We have chosen to donate these books to Italian pediatric hospitals with oncology and surgery departments of excellence, which accompany children on an even more difficult path, given their young age: I thank them for having welcomed the initiative with great enthusiasm. “ARTÙperTU con Enrica al Museo” is a fun and instructive reading, a pleasant pastime, which I hope will distract the little sick people in a delicate period like Christmas. Special thanks for the organizational support go to Andrea Bertuzzi, writer of the book, who signed all 1,500 copies to make the gift even more special, and to Angela Notarandrea, a woman of profound sensitivity who with her great availability has created a network of contacts, essential for the success of the initiative “.

“I wanted to dedicate two days to personally sign all the copies to be closer to these children: I wanted each of them to receive a hug, even if virtual, from me and from Artù”, Andrea Bertuzzi emphasizes. “I was amply rewarded by the warmth received by the doctors of the various hospitals, aware that our small gesture would have given a big smile and a little distraction to their little patients. For me this is the best Christmas present I could have received “.

Hospitals and supporting partners

The hospitals that have already received the books or are receiving them in these days, are based in many cities in Italy, including Milan, Padua, Pavia, Vicenza, Genoa, Pisa, Turin, Parma, Pescara, Catanzaro, Brescia, Trieste, Foggia, Modena, Rome.

“Some voluntary associations will also receive the volume: for example, Noi per Loro, (website link) created by the will of a group of parents with children affected by rare diseases, helps many children and their families to overcome the many difficult times. In addition to using the book in their shelter and distributing it in the vaccination hubs of Parma, she promised herself to organize a visit to the National Science and Technology Museum in Milan to let the little ones discover the places where the story was set “, concludes Monica Cerin. “There are many supporting partners for this initiative, which will certainly be repeated. Not being able to mention everyone in this article, I sincerely thank everyone, taking the opportunity for a special wish from Serene Feste. The complete list of donors and recipients can be found on the website, which will be constantly updated with new members ”.
