School closed in Rome due to Brazilian covid variant

A middle school closed in Rome for a case of the Brazilian variant of Covid. The Sinopoli-Ferrini institute, in the Africano district, announces that “as per the provision of the ASL RM1 received by this educational institution today and attached to this, the entire Comprehensive Institute will be closed starting from Wednesday 24 February 2021”.

Attached to the circular is the note of the ASL Roma1 which specifies that “the request for typing molecular TNFs, in addition to the case previously communicated on 20/02, gave a positive result due to the presence of a variant of SARS-CoV-2, lineage P. 1 (so-called “Brazilian” variant) in another case currently in isolation identified within the school “.

The school therefore informs that following this communication there is “the extraordinary sanitation of the premises of the entire complex (Secondary School) by the school collaborators; the suspension of teaching activities in presence and at a distance for the entire Comprehensive Institute, starting from Wednesday 24 February approximately and until the ASL RM1 notifies the calendar of the execution dates of the TNF (school staff and pupils). Therefore, this communication corrects Circular no. 256 of 20/02/2021, relatively to the activation of the DDI, prepared for the Primary School. The return to school in the presence – concludes the school – will be subject to the verification of the results of the TNF of all staff and pupils “.
