Square Enix announced that NieR: Automata he has sold it more than 5.5 million copies between physical and digital. The figure refers to the global market and includes all the platforms on which it was launched.
In December 2020 the publisher had talked about 5 million copies sold for NieR: Automata. Evidently in the meantime he managed to place another 500,000,000, which is not bad, given the age of the game and given the series of lucky events that led to its realization.
NieR: Automata was launched on PS4 February 23, 2017 in Japan and March 7 in America and Europe. The PC version was launched exclusively on Steam on March 17, 2017, while the Xbox One version came only a year later, that is, June 26, 2018. In February 2019, the Game of the YoRHa Edition was released for PC and PS4.
A secret cheat has recently been discovered that leads directly to the game’s ending, one of the many easter eggs that Yoko Taro and PlatinumGames are planning on playing. The success of the title was such that it drove the downloads of the very recent NieR Re[in]carnation, already at 3 million.
