The decision emerged following the data provided to the Municipality by the Covid unit of the ASP of Syracuse which from 27 March to 2 April recorded an incidence rate of 292 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, well above the 250 provided for by the decree of the presidency of the council for the establishment of the red zone.
Solarino, therefore, would add up to Portopalo di Capo Passero where the most stringent measures started on 12 March and Priolo Gargallo which entered the “red zone” just 3 days ago.
“We are at work at the Municipality – said the mayor during a live social media – because we are forwarding the request to the presidency of the Sicilian region for the determination of the red zone in the territory of the municipality of Solarino. Unfortunately, today is Easter Eve and this news has arrived that not everyone was expecting“.
