We begin to glimpse the light at the end of the tunnel even in Sicily. For the second day in a row the new infections remain below 300, 273 to be precise. The swabs made were 13,367, and the positivity rate remains as stable as yesterday at 2%. As two days ago, the Island is the Region with the most daily infections, but with such low numbers it can be counted as a simple statistic. The curves are all downhill. Starting with that of the victims: 4 in the last 24 hours. The number of people in hospital due to Covid is also back down: ordinary hospitalizations are 337 with the balance marking -25 compared to yesterday, intensive care is stable (38) with three new admissions. The healed are 766 and therefore the current positives drop below 7 thousand (6,864), of which 6,489 treated at home. Only 37 new infections in the province of Palermo, but no province exceeds 100 cases: Catania (68), Messina (26), Syracuse (6), Trapani (4), Ragusa (73), Agrigento (10), Caltanissetta ( 7) and Enna (42).
The AstraZeneca vaccine is strongly recommended for those over 60, while anyone under sixty who has already taken one dose of the viral vector serum will do the second with Pfizer or Moderna. This is the indication contained in the opinion of the Technical Scientific Committee which refers any decision to the competent authorities. Therefore, as explained by the Coordinator of the CTS Locatelli, the first doses of AstraZeneca vaccine will be reserved for over 60s, while the second dose for children under 60 years of age will have to be given an mRna vaccine “considering the availability of alternative vaccination platforms and following the principle of utmost caution “. As explained by the Minister of Health Speranza and Commissioner Figliuolo, the recommendations of the CTS will be translated into a “peremptory” stop to the use of the Astrazeneca vaccine for children under 60. In summary: Astrazeneca will only be used for over 60s (3 million administrations are missing according to Commissioner Figliuolo). A “heterologous vaccination” will continue the booster for the under 60s who have had the first dose with Astrazeneca, ie the mRna vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) will be used

The new ordinance that the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza will sign today brings Lombardy, Lazio, Piedmont, Puglia, Emilia-Romagna and the Province of Trento to the white zone from Monday 14 June: from next week 50% of Italians will no longer have the curfew and will be able to return to live with fewer limitations. Then all of Italy should therefore be in the white zone starting from July. Here I briefly explain what changes with the passage in the white area.
