Covid vaccine: how to shift the second dose. The numbers to call and the apps to use

Rome, 6 June 2021 – More than bad weather, the nightmare of the upcoming summer holidays will be there second dose of the vaccine. Many Italians who have received the injection these days will have to return for the recall in mid-July (if they have been injected Pfizer or Moderna) or at the end of August (if it was administered AstraZeneca). And what if the sting falls in the middle of vacation, while maybe you are several hundred kilometers from home? How can I shift the second dose? The extraordinary commissioner for the emergency Francesco Figliuolo he invited the Regions to be more flexible: this means more flexibility in the choice of dates, but always within the maximum interval allowed by AIFA.

Covid Bulletin, the new cases

What happens if I miss the call?

Many Italians may find themselves in the situation of having to give up the second dose. If you exceed the period recommended by Aifa (maximum 42 days for Pfizer and Moderna and 12 weeks for AstraZeneca) you will have to repeat the entire vaccination cycle, to be considered protected from the virus and thus obtain the green pass to go on vacation.

Can I call back on vacation?

According to the government, this possibility will be “an absolute exception”. Only individual realities have said they are willing to accept tourists in their structures. Those who fly to the Aeolian Islands will be able to receive the call, as well as those who go on vacation to Veneto, according to the promises of the mayor and governor. La Ligura and Piedmont have already signed a bilateral agreement to administer the vaccine to their residents on vacation in the other region. According to the Conference of the Regions, the second dose on vacation will realistically be given to those who will stay away from home for at least two weeks and only in the month of August.

Green Pass, how it works in Europe and in the USA

Not all regions will be given this opportunity. The recommendation is always to choose the first dose, taking into account when the recall will be set, to avoid being on vacation at that time. Almost all regions already communicate the date of the second dose today, so you can find an agreement according to your personal agenda. Any change of date must in any case be indicated in time: apart from serious and documented cases, you will not be able to change the date of the injection a few hours before the appointment. And in any case, given that it will be necessary to follow AIFA’s instructions, the date of the recall can only be anticipated or postponed by a few days within the range allowed by each single vaccine. This is because each serum has a specific time window within which the vaccination cycle can be completed.

  • Pfizer: between 21 and 42 days after the first dose
  • Modern: between 28 and 42 days after the first dose
  • AstraZeneca: between 28 and 84 days after the first dose

By the end of June, all residents could be given the option to call the call center (800 00.99.66) to change the date of the recall or to use the regional portal to move the day of the second dose.

The Region is studying how to allow the recall date to be changed through the use of the e-Covid Sinfonia app. According to internal sources, this possibility could be implemented soon.

From 9 June you can change the date of the second dose, by contacting the call center of the provincial Ausl or the Cup. The maximum range must always be respected. The Region has decided to set up mobile slots every single day to meet the residents. Here are the telephone numbers:

Currently, the recall could be moved only for serious and documented reasons, but several people have already reported that when possible, operators have shown themselves willing to meet the needs of citizens who asked to change the day of the injection.

For the moment, the date change is only allowed to teachers engaged in exam sessions or ballots, but soon the other residents will also be given the opportunity to change the day of the recall (always respecting the range of the individual serum) directly from the regional portal of reservations. The call center answers on 800 89 45 45

In the autonomous province of Trento you can currently call the call center (800 867 388) made available to book appointments to shift the second dose, but only for serious health reasons. In the coming days this possibility could be extended to everyone.
