Covid, curfew to midnight from Monday and six at the restaurant table. All new rules

Rome – From Monday the curfew will be postponed to midnight. The limit on the number of diners in outdoor restaurants in the white area has been eliminated. Fixed at a maximum of six for people who eat indoors. The countdown on reopening has started throughout the country. Abruzzo, Umbria, Liguria and Veneto are promoted to the white zone, where they will officially enter from Monday (they register less than 50 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants for the third week). They are added to Friuli Venezia Giulia, Molise and Sardinia, already in this minimum risk area.

A trend that confirms the positive forecasts of recent days: from 14 June, however, it could touch Lombardy, Lazio, Piedmont, Puglia, Emilia-Romagna and the Province of Trento (which already have excellent data this week). While Sicily, Marche, Tuscany, the Province of Bolzano, Calabria, Basilicata and Campania will have to wait until June 21st. The last to enter the “white” area, according to estimates, will presumably be Valle d’Aosta on 28 June. In general, the Rt index drops to 0.68 and with an incidence of 32 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants while in the last 24 hours there have been 73 deaths from Covid. There were 2,557 new infections, with a positivity rate of 1.1% and only 200 thousand people currently positive in Italy. “If the trend continues like this, for the second week of June all of Italy will be in the white zone”, hopes the president of the Higher Institute of Health (ISS), Silvio Brusaferro.

Minimum level of restrictions
From Monday 7 June one in five Italians (20%) for a total of 11.6 million people will find themselves in the white zone with the minimum level of restrictions. This is what emerges from Coldiretti’s analysis in reference to the blank passage of Abruzzo, Liguria, Veneto and Umbria which join Sardinia, Molise and Friuli which had had the color change last week. An acceleration due to the advancement of the vaccination campaign and the reduction of infections which – underlines Coldiretti – should bring Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont, Puglia, Emilia Romagna and Trento to a change of color on 14 June for a total of 40.9 million people in the white zone, equal to 69% of the total.

Green light to parties and receptions
Along with the resumption of all activities, even those that in the yellow band were subject to limitations or closures, such as amusement arcades, betting rooms, bingo halls and casinos, as well as cultural centers, social centers and recreational centers including the green light for parties and receptions for weddings and baptisms with the obligation, however, for guests of the green pass. If tables are allowed in the white areas, particularly relevant in these regions – continues Coldiretti – is above all the early end of the curfew with the arrival of summer and the resumption of tourism. A measure that – concludes Coldiretti – allows in many catering establishments the possibility of a double shift with an important increase in hospitality and receipts, after a particularly difficult year for the pandemic.

Closed discos
With the Italians running towards normality, the only ones not to rejoice, at least for the moment, are the managers of the discos. “I am available to make dozens of videos available to ministers and technicians where people already dance in bars or bathing establishments, while instead 30% of our activities have already closed permanently and another 30% are still in danger of being added now”, he explains. Maurizio Pasca, president of the union of dance clubs (Silb), asking “on what basis it is decided that in the square you can dance and in a club, with a limited number and in complete safety, it is not possible”. Regions are also asking the government to put the matter on the table.

The Undersecretary for Health, Andrea Costa, he reassures: «Personally, I hope that a meeting with the government is scheduled as early as next week, we absolutely must work on it. Discos must be opened in order to dance. There can be no limit to the distance, but we need to find a method that considers capacity and tracking, perhaps allowing entry only with the green pass ». So the revolt of the managers of the discos is announced, still closed and without a date. On this the union of the ballrooms launches the challenge to the executive: “If by next 21 June, with the definitive elimination of the curfew, the government does not also express itself for our restart, we will decide to reopen indiscriminately from 1 July” .
