A study published by researchers from the State University of Milan and INAIF shows that sunlight kills Covid-19 in minutes.
After exposing infected human cells with amounts of virus comparable to those found in saliva, experts have verified that the sun’s rays are effective.
“Our data indicate that solar radiation reaching the surface of the Earth could completely deactivate Sars-Cov-2 in concentrations similar to those found in saliva in minutes. In conclusion, for the first time, we have shown that UV radiation is effective in inhibiting Sars-Cov-2 at different wavelengths. This confirms a role for sunlight in disinfecting external surfaces, and could help explain the seasonality of this virus. “
