Florence, 13 September 2021 – Slightly increasing hospitalizations and a decrease in the positive rate on the first diagnoses (in comparison with last Monday): these are some of the most significant data emerging from the daily bulletin of the Region on the progress of the pandemic of Covid 19. But let’s see the bulletin in detail.
The big picture
In Tuscany there are 277,000 cases of Coronavirus positivity, 207 more compared to yesterday (202 confirmed with molecular swab and 5 by rapid antigen test). New cases are 0.1% more than the previous day’s total. The healed grow by 0.1% and reach 260,559 (94.1% of total cases). Today, 4,080 molecular swabs and 1,839 rapid antigenic swabs have been performed, of which 3.5% were positive. On the other hand, 2,150 subjects were tested today (with antigenic and / or molecular swab, excluding control swabs), of which 9.6% were positive. The rising of the rate of positivity, from 7.5% on Sunday 12 September to 9.6% today is normal and happens every Monday. Taking into consideration the Monday of last week, September 6, the positive rate on the first diagnoses (it was 11.5%) fell sharply by almost two percentage points.
The current positives are today 9,378, -0.1% compared to yesterday. There are 436 hospitalized (7 more than yesterday), of which 56 in intensive care (1 more). The average age of 207 new positives today is approximately 38 years (29% are under 20, 21% between 20 and 39, 31% between 40 and 59, 10% between 60 and 79, 9% have 80 years or older).
Cases on the territory
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday (202 confirmed with molecular swab and 5 by rapid antigen test). There are 76,617 total cases to date in Florence (45 more than yesterday), 25,528 in Prato (39 more), 26,063 in Pistoia (24 more), 14,614 in Massa (9 more), 28,420 in Lucca (10 more), 32,777 in Pisa (16 more), 20,570 in Livorno (20 more), 25,327 in Arezzo (11 more), 15,712 in Siena (24 more), 10,817 in Grosseto (9 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions. There are 108 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 55 in the North West, 44 in the South East. Tuscany is in 10th place in Italy in terms of number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with about 7,551 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average about 7,774 x100,000, yesterday’s figure). The provinces of notification with the highest rate are Prato with 9,970 cases x100,000 inhabitants, Pistoia with 8,962, Pisa with 7,871, the lowest Grosseto with 4,950.
Overall, 8,942 people are in isolation at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care, or are symptom-free (18 fewer than yesterday, minus 0.2%).
There are 11,699 (112 less than yesterday, minus 0.9%) people, also isolated, in active surveillance because they have had contact with infected people (ASL Centro 4,735, North West 5,234, South East 1,730). The people hospitalized in beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 436 (7 more than yesterday, plus 1.6%), 56 in intensive care (1 more than yesterday, plus 1.8%). The total people healed are 260,559 (215 more than yesterday, plus 0.1%): 0 people clinically healed (stable compared to yesterday), that is, who became asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection and 260,559 (215 more compared to yesterday, plus 0.1%) declared fully cured, the so-called viral healings, with negative swab.
Today there are 3 new deaths: 3 men, with an average age of 80 years. With regard to the province of residence, the deceased persons are: 1 in Lucca, 2 in Siena. 7,063 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 2,279 in Florence, 619 in Prato, 650 in Pistoia, 530 in Massa Carrara, 678 in Lucca, 712 in Pisa, 421 in Livorno, 536 in Arezzo, 349 in Siena, 197 in Grosseto, 92 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
The Tuscan raw mortality rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 192.5 x100.000 residents against the 219.2 x100.000 of the Italian average (12th region). As for the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (279.2 x100.000), Prato (241.8 x100.000) and Florence (231.1 x100.000), the lowest at Grosseto (90.1 x100.000).
