The new cases in the last 24 hours in Sicily are 770 out of 18,441 swabs processed. This is the most salient data that comes out of the usual bulletin issued by the Ministry of Health on the Covid situation on the island. The new infections are therefore over two hundred fewer than the day before (with two thousand fewer tampons though). As a result of these numbers, the positivity rate goes from 4.6% to 4.1%. A slight drop that bodes well.
The current positives drop, albeit slightly, from 26,353 yesterday to 26,255 today. 25 deaths have been reported, but as usual they also refer to the previous days. In detail: eight yesterday, eleven refer to 9 September, 3 instead to 8 September, one to 24 August, one to 13 August and finally another death dates back to 9 July. A situation, that which concerns the communication of deaths for Covid, which increasingly takes on the contours of a case.
After three days in which they were in decline, ordinary hospitalizations return to recover. They are in fact 801 (+8 compared to yesterday) while intensive therapies confirm the downward trend of the last two days: they are 106 (24 hours ago there were 108 and Thursday 117) with five new entries (like yesterday). There are 25,348 people in home isolation on the island. Sicily is clearly in first place in this “ranking”: after her there is Emilia Romagna which has just 14,000. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 6,568 people have lost their lives on the island.
At the provincial level, here is the total since the beginning of the epidemic and the daily increase in infections in the provinces: Palermo: 81,554 (114); Catania: 71,214 (138); Messina: 32,507 (150); Syracuse: 21,813 (136); Ragusa: 19,011 (47); Trapani: 18,731 (106); Caltanissetta: 17,285 (36); Agrigento: 16,788 (30); Enna: 8,923 (13).
