A survey of the staff not yet vaccinated, the possibility of receiving the serum in tourist places, nightlife or in the workplace, and the strengthening of the municipal vaccination points with the reassignment of staff on duty. These are some of the main innovations contained in the ordinance signed by President Nello Musumeci, in force from tomorrow until September 1, with which the regional government launches the “Proximity Vaccination Campaign”.

A real “blanket” campaign, an articulated plan to impose a strong acceleration on the immunization campaign, also in light of the spread of the “Delta” variant, and to reach as soon as possible the 80 percent vaccinated quota established in national level.

Census of employees not yet vaccinated

The provincial health companies will carry out a complete and updated survey of all public employees, staff in charge of public utility services and essential services, road hauliers, staff of companies in the agri-food and health chain, crews of means of transport to take a census those who have not yet been vaccinated and formally invite them to provide. In the event of unavailability or refusal, the employer must, in the manner and terms provided for by the collective agreements, reassign the employee to another role, which does not involve direct contact with the user.

Vaccinations in tourist places and nightlife

The ordinance introduces important innovations that allow citizens to be vaccinated even in tourist spots and nightlife. In fact, the Asp, alongside the interventions for the functional improvement of the tourist medical guards, with a special public notice will give the possibility to tour operators to sign an agreement to create vaccination points within their own accommodation, even in drive-in mode. The deadline is set for 5 September and the costs will be borne by the regional health system. In addition, a special vaccination campaign will be launched in the tourist resorts for the staff of large and medium distribution (shopping centers and supermarkets).

Strengthening of municipal vaccination points

Healthcare companies will also enhance vaccination facilities in municipalities, particularly in those that have registered a lower membership, through the reassignment of staff already adhering to the vaccination activity (supernumerary USCA doctors, general practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, biologists, etc.) in existing mobile structures or territorial centers.

Vaccinations in the workplace

Through the agreement between the ASPs and the Italian Private Hospital Association, or through specific agreements with the representative employers’ organizations, it will be possible, upon request, to be vaccinated directly in the workplace.

Mandatory pad for those arriving from Spain and Portugal

Finally, the obligation to take a swab is extended to those arriving from Spain or Portugal, or to those who have stayed or transited there in the previous 14 days. At the moment, these are the only two European countries for which this security measure is envisaged in Sicily.

“We are committed tirelessly – says President Musumeci – so that the objective of ‘herd immunity’ is reached as soon as possible. Some of the measures I have just ordered are innovative, at national level, because we believe we need to involve tour operators more – who have finally resumed working at full speed – so that people can be vaccinated precisely in the holiday places, even by carrying out drive-ins whose costs will be borne by the regional health system. I then appeal to employers: they support us in the recognition of those who have not yet received the anti-Covid serum. Vaccinating – concludes the governor – does not only mean protecting oneself but also having respect and a sense of responsibility towards others “.
